The Finishing Store and Chelsea Young, a Cape Town-based artist, have announced their new collaborative partnership.
Borne out of this partnership, the first exclusive limited edition collection is now live on the website. This partnership celebrates meaningful creative connection within our community.
The artist's inspiration behind 'Let's Meet There' (Series) and 'The Meeting Place (I and II)':
"These six works form part of a body of work that was an invitation to unravel the enigma of memory. To celebrate its beauty, complexity, and capacity to shape our individual and collective identities. The intrigue is how different colours find their meaning by holding nuance of understanding, acting as visual cues and entry points.
In some instances the colours lend themselves to site specificity and location. These particular works are memories from North-West India.
Creating these works became a way to make sense of what it means to ‘meet’ or gather, metaphorically or otherwise. How do people extend themselves toward each-other and how does this differ between community and culture?"
